Flowing Springs Inn

An Historic Landmark on an Important Path
The Flowing Springs Inn, nestled along what is now Route 100 in Chester County, traces its roots to the mid-1700s when this vital north-south route first connected the new iron forge town of Pottstown with Lancaster Avenue. As the region grew through industry and trade, this path became an essential artery for travelers, merchants, and early settlers journeying between the forge towns and rail lines of Pennsylvania.

A Natural Spring, a Welcoming Stop
With steep hills and long travel times, roadside inns began to spring up to serve weary travelers and their horses. By the mid-1800s, the site of the Flowing Springs Inn was chosen for its natural spring—an ideal source of fresh water and early refrigeration. It became a well-known rest stop along the developing Pottstown Pike as the railroad era emerged and trade routes expanded across the state.

Built to Last in the 1920s
After the original wood-framed building was lost, a new and more permanent structure was built around 1920. The stone-walled first floor housed a modern kitchen, pub room, and formal dining area, while four guest rooms and a rare indoor bathroom graced the second floor. With water still flowing from the spring through its basement, the Inn combined rustic charm with surprising modern amenities for the time.

A New Chapter with a Social Mission
Over the years, the Flowing Springs Inn has evolved under various names, including Titus Inn and Crofts Tavern, but has remained a community favorite. Today, it is proudly owned by the Autism Village Foundation and serves as the home of The Epicurean Club—a private social dining club with a purpose: to create vocational pathways in hospitality for individuals with autism and other neurodivergencies. The legacy of hospitality continues—now with heart and mission.
